@realphukka Of what I have experienced the more public one is with their gift ie Reiki or psychics (Sylvia Brown being the worst of them all followed by Miss Cleo) the more....they are.......Not as effective to put it gently? And before I get blasted, yes I believe in all this stuff so shut it. I would think the Japanese Masters are much more humble.

@mag930 yes maybe, because one reiki master started going on about Vortex healing, it seemed to be some of the master I been to have a lot of "issue's" themself about how things "should" be done, and need healing on this themselve's. As a healer a person should have had healing or feel whole themself, also I feel that there could be some legal regulation, as the UK reiki federation member is voluntary, and it leads people open to exploitation by untrained people, who don't know to help.

@mag930 really I do not think chakra's was part of Dr Usui system, or psychic attacks, and reiki was taught in 6 stage's, in edition to that, Dr Usui wasn't a Christian as Christianity was illegal in Japan as Shinto was the national religion and Christianity was seen as a threat, after I think being introduced by Dutch trader's. Obsorbing someone's suffering would not empower them, not for their highest good, and might harm healer. Yes reiki is a Japanese word, the kanji is on some literature.

@MrMatthew554 Sorry, but your wrong. Reiki is a japanese word. Tadao Yamaguchi teaches the "original" Reiki how it's practise in Japan. The "new age mumbo jumbo" Reiki came also from Japan - Hawaii - Amerika to Europe. So it is influenced by many cultures. It works as good by using this rituals or not.
Maybe you mix it up with another healing system.

@mag930 yes, Japanese people can teach reiki in a clear way without all the new age mumbo jumbo, about psychic attacks, cords of attachment's and angel's. I feel the new age movement has highjacked reiki, and turned it into utter dripple. A reiki master told me about absorbing negativity of the client, no wonder the medical people think often reiki is nonsense, and then she hugged me after the session.

@realphukka reiki is not called reiki in Japan, also you can see Jikiden reiki is founded by a Japanese guy, there are Japanese that practice reiki, but it has become popular with many Westerner's, and they have put new age stuff like chakra's in it, which actually come from Verdic tradition, not Chinese medicine.

Also, you don't see many western men because they are too focused on making more money, working 60 hr weeks to feed their consumption of big houses, multiple SUVs, and love of large amounts of red meat and beer. They spend their free time sitting in front of a computer or TV watching sports. It is the women who value most the importance of Spirituality and Spiritual healing, and empathy with other human beings.

I have a question though. Would it not appear more authentic if the term 'chakra reiki' was discarded? Point being, Chakra is Indian and Reiki is Japanese.
